1. What is meDia soft?

meDia soft is an India-based transcription services company that specializes in the media industry. We offer a range of services including business and media transcription, legal transcription, captioning and translation services. Our deliverables focus on three primary parameters: quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness. meDia soft currently caters to the US, India, Japan and European markets.

2. Who is our team?

Our teams are comprised of extremely well qualified college graduates who have over five years of experience in their respective departments. Our editorial staff includes graduates with over five years of experience in editing. Radhika Kapadia, Founder and CEO, has completed her education at the University of Pennsylvania/Wharton School and Oxford University. Her professional background includes finance and corporate strategy, at Morgan Stanley and Accenture. We have a seasoned team of Advisors who have successful track records from leading educational and professional centers, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Merrill Lynch, Standard & Poors, Harvard University and the Kellogg School of Management.

3. What is our value proposition?

We offer clients three key value drivers: 1. Our strategic location in India offers companies a cost-effective means of transcribing audio files. Our rates are approximately 40% less than the average rate in the U.S. 2. Given the 11-hour time difference between the U.S. and India, files that we receive in the morning will be completed and sent back to the U.S. by morning U.S. time. 3. Our process is not only time-driven, but it is also quality-driven. A Transcriptionist/Captioner listens and transcribes the audio/video files, an Editor proofreads the transcription and a Quality Assurance Analyst finalizes the document. The Team Leader heads each team and performs the last and final check on every file prior to client delivery. Once quality is evaluated and perfected, the transcripts are sent back via an FTP site.

4. What is media transcription?

Media transcription is the service of transcribing audio files into a text format, for companies that require hard-copy transcripts of conference calls, meetings and news and radio broadcasts. For example, meDia soft converts a range of audio files including quarterly conference calls, feature stories, publicity interviews, testimonials, broadcast scripts and documentaries.

5. What is business transcription?

Business transcription is the service of converting audio files into verbatim transcripts for companies across industries - from medicine and insurance to airlines and automobiles. Within business transcription, meDia soft specializes in conference calls, meetings, seminars and analyst calls.

6. What is legal transcription?

Legal transcription is the service of transcribing depositions, court hearings or case notes into verbatim texts. At meDia soft, we handle transcription within all areas of law, including criminal, corporate and immigration law.

7. What kinds of transcripts do we offer?

We offer three kinds of transcripts: (1) Standard: Our standard rate includes quality transcripts that are text replicates of audio files. Content is precise, and punctuation and spelling are exceptionally accurate. (2) Editorial: Our editorial rate includes the deliverables of the standard rate, plus an in-depth editorial check. Content and grammar is edited in order to generate transcripts that are reader-friendly and grammatically flawless. (3) Customized: Our customized rate is largely dependent upon our client's specific requirements. There are several additional services we offer, including additional editing services and customization.

8. What is the difference between captioning and subtitling?

According to dictionary.com, subtitling is a printed translation of the dialogue of a foreign-language film, which appears at the bottom of the screen. Captioning is similar to this except that it includes the description of sounds and styles of speaking that hearing-impaired viewers cannot experience. Subtitles usually appear at the bottom of the screen, while captions can be placed next to the speaker (or anywhere else on the screen) in pop-on format, or scrolling upwards in roll-up format, or simply appear one word at a time in paint-on format. Subtitles and captions both need to be time-coded carefully in order to ensure that the words being spoken can be read comfortably on-screen at the same time.

9. What file formats do we accept?

We accept all formats that can be played in Real Audio player as well as Windows Media Player and Quicktime. This includes .asf, .avi, .mov, .mpeg, .mpg, .mp3, .qt, .qt3, .ra, .rm, .ram, .rv and .wav.

10. What kinds of translation do we undertake?

We accept translation requests for various European languages including Spanish and French as well as Indian regional languages.
